Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism launched something I have not seen a city do at this scale: it pays residents for bringing visitors. The programme is called A Dubai Invite. You nominate a friend or relative abroad, they arrive between 20 July and 31 October 2026, and you receive a package of hotel, dining, and attraction benefits worth more than Dh3,000 per verified arrival. Summer is the low season here; DET is turning every resident into a distribution channel for it.
The mechanics, step by step
- You register your visitor's details on the official visitdubai.com nomination form before they arrive. Up to 5 visitors per submission, and you can submit more than once. Registration closes 30 September 2026.
- Your guest arrives between 20 July and 31 October 2026, by air, sea, or road. No paperwork at the border: DET verifies the arrival automatically through government systems.
- Within 72 hours of the verified arrival you receive the benefits package by email, with redemption instructions.
- The rewards stay valid until 31 December 2026.
Who qualifies
- You: a UAE citizen or resident, 18 or older, holding a valid Emirates ID.
- Your guest: not a UAE resident, entering on a valid tourist or visit visa (or visa on arrival).
- Limits: each visitor can be nominated once, and each resident collects a maximum of 3 reward packages.
- Your guest pays their own way: flights, visa, accommodation, and travel costs are not covered.
What the package actually contains
The published partner list is real hotels, not filler: Meliá Desert Palm offers 45 percent off rooms plus a Dh100 spa credit and a Dh100 dining credit per stay. ME Dubai by Meliá gives 35 percent off the best rate, a complimentary upgrade, kids under 12 free, and 35 percent off restaurants and spa. The three Mina Seyahi properties (W Dubai, The Westin, Le Méridien) convert your room charge into a full credit you can spend at their restaurants and spas. IHG hotels add a third night free and up to 30 percent off dining. Careem and Hala are in the partner list for getting around.
The Dh3,000 figure is DET's own valuation of the bundle, and as always with bundles, the value you extract depends on how much of it you would have bought anyway. A family that actually books a staycation and eats out will get most of it. Someone who redeems one dinner will not.

Because the single most reliable step in every purchase I have closed with overseas buyers is the visit. People do not wire six figures to a city they have not walked. A programme that lowers the cost of that first visit, in the exact months when flights and hotels are cheapest, is a scouting subsidy in disguise. If your relatives have been circling the idea of Dubai, this is the cheapest summer to show them the city, and to walk a few buildings while they are here.
Two practical pairings. Cities usually spend their tourism budget on influencers. Dubai just routed part of it through the people who actually know the city: its residents. The caps are sensible, the partners are legitimate, and the window is generous. If you were going to host family this year anyway, registering before their arrival is fifteen minutes of admin for a Dh3,000 bundle.
